Lease Extension Solicitors

Who we are.

We are a solicitors firm which specialises in statutory lease extensions under the Leasehold Reform Housing and Urban Development Act 1993. It’s a niche area of law, but one in which our lease extension solicitors are experts. Our Legal Director, Leah Veasey, has over a decade of experience as a solicitor specialising in lease extensions in other solicitors firms in the leasehold enfranchisement sector.

Because we specialise in statutory lease extensions only, our law firm uses well refined systems and processes to make sure that your lease extension will be completed quickly and correctly, from reviewing your title and serving the section 42 notice to reviewing the draft documents and the completion of the registration of your lease extension at the Land Registry.

Unless your freeholder is an individual or a small company owning just a few freehold titles, one of our team will almost certainly have completed a lease extension with them before. Whether your freeholder is a Housing Association like Clarion or Metropolitan, a private freeholder such as Alan Mattey or Sinclair Gardens Investments, or a Local Authority, we will be able to anticipate how they will approach your lease extension and have experience with the solicitors who they will use to provide their legal representation.

We anticipate that your lease extension will go smoothly. We have sufficient experience with the process, your freeholder and their solicitor to anticipate any issues and avoid them or resolve them quickly, but even in the more challenging cases we will be on hand to provide the legal advice and expert support you need.

We are a modern solicitors firm which uses processes and technology to make the lease extension process as smooth as possible. This also makes it easy for us to support clients irrespective of geographical location, so whether you’re in London, Manchester, Cardiff, Yeovil or anywhere in between - we will be able to help.

Leasehold Legal Services is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Homehold, which is a project management and valuation company specialising in lease extensions. The organisations were set up by one of our directors, Linz Darlington, who as a leaseholder had a poor experience in enfranchising his own flat. As far as we know, we are the only specialist firm of lease extension solicitors who only ever work for the leaseholder, and we share the same focus as our parent company delivering outstanding customer service.

Much of our legal work is for clients where Homehold is managing their lease extension as part of their fixed-fee end-to-end service, which includes valuation and negotiation work. However, we will also take statutory lease extension instructions directly - please see our contact details below.

Our team

Leah Veasey, Director & Solicitor

Leah is an experienced, specialist solicitor and estimates that she has been involved in over a thousand lease extensions. She has oversight of all our lease extensions matters, including supervising other colleagues working on your case.

Prior to leading LLS, Leah culminated over a decade of legal experience working in other specialist solicitors in the lease extension sector including Birketts, Bolt Burdon and Brethertons.

Leah leads our practice as Legal Director and Compliance Office for Legal Practice and has been qualified as a solicitor since 2014.

Jaime Burgess, FCILEx, Client Manager

Jaime is a fully qualified leasehold enfranchisement lawyer.

Before working for LLS she worked for our parent company, Homehold, where she managed lease extensions from start to finish for leaseholder clients.

Prior to her role at Homehold, she gained over five years’ experience working in the law, including working in leasehold enfranchisement in specialist departments at Streathers and Collins Benson Goldhill.

Dale Bree, Client Manager

Dale is one of LLS’ Client Mangers and has been working in leasehold enfranchisement since 2015 - and has completed hundreds of lease extensions.

He has extensive experience in working with a large range of freeholders and their respective legal teams, from private landlords to local authorities and housing associations.

Before joining Homehold he worked in Bonallack & Bishop’s specialist lease extension team.

Ian East, Compliance Solicitor

Customer experience and quality of service is immensely important to our business.

In order to achieve this we need to ensure every case and the business as a whole is meeting the requirements of our regulation. Ian worked at the Solicitors Regulation Authority for over ten years and his role at Leasehold Legal Services is to support the team in ensuring our compliance.

Ian conducts regular file reviews on our lease extensions to ensure each meets the high standards we have set.

Ian qualified as a solicitor in 2002.

Linz Darlington, Director

Linz is focused on the non-legal elements of our business, including acting as our Compliance Officer for Finance and Administration.

He is definitely “not a lawyer!” and brings other skills and experience to the law firm, including a strong focus on implementing processes and systems to ensure that each lease extension is completed correctly and risk of mistakes is minimised. This means that the client receives a fantastic experience with their lease extension.

He is also a Director of our parent company, Homehold, which specialises in lease extension valuation and project management.
